Jordan Best’s Two Home Runs Lead Lady Cats To Win Over Redbank Valley In KSAC Softball Action

The Clarion Area Lady Cats downed the visiting Redbank Valley Lady Bulldogs with a seventeen hit performance in a 15-5 in six innings, in KSAC softball action, on Wednesday (May 5th).

The teams were tied 5-all after three innings. Neither team scored in the fourth. But after holding Redbank Valley off the board in the top of the fifth, Clarion exploded for eight runs in the fifth, to take a commanding 13-5 lead, with Jordan Best driving in five runs on a solo home run and then a grand slam later in the inning. Best finished the game going 3-for-5, while driving in seven runs.

The Cats held the Bulldogs off the board, once again in the top of the sixth and then scored two runs, for the 10-run rule victory.

Payton Simko went 3-for-3, at the plate for Clarion, with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored. She was the winning pitcher going all six innings in the circle, while striking out six and issuing just two walks and allowing five runs, three of them earned.

Noel Anthony had a 3-for-5 afternoon, with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored. Brianna Forrest was 2-for-4, scoring two runs and driving in a run. Brenna Campbell had two hits, in four at bats and scored a run. Emily Troese singled and scored three runs. Kylee Beers, Mckenna Aaron and McKayla Kerle each singled and scored a run.

The 5-5 Lady Cats will host Union this afternoon (Thursday, May 6th).
