Payton Simko Fires Four-Inning, No Hitter While Offense Comes Up Big In Lady Cats District Nine Class-A Softball Quarterfinal Victory Over Lady Green Wave

The Clarion Area Lady Cats downed the homestanding Green Wave of the Oswayo Valley Lady Green Wave 18-0 in four innings in their District Nine Class A quarterfinal match-up, on Monday (May 24th). The fifth seeded Lady Cats now advance to face number one seed DuBois Central Catholic Lady Cardinals, at Brockway, on Wednesday (May 26th).

Payton Simko had a big game in the circle holding, Oswayo Valley without a hit over the four innings. She struck out ten and walked three.

While Simko was holding the Green Wave at bay, Clarion’s bats were in high gear.

Neither team scored in the first inning, but the Cats put five runs on the board in the second, four in the third and another nine runs in the fourth.

Kylee Beers had smashed a pair of home runs for the Lady Cats, with four RBIs and three runs scored. Jordan Best also homered. She drove in four runs and scored twice. Noel Anthony had a double, with three runs driven in and two runs scored. Simko singled and doubled and scored twice.

Brenna Campbell singled, drove in two runs and scored once. Ava Kiser had a hit and scored three runs. Emily Troese singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Jadyn Sheftic singled and scored a run and Bri Forrest drove in a run and scored twice.
