Bobcat Boys Golf Team Claim Third Straight KSAC Championship

The Clarion Bobcat Boys Golf Team claimed their third consecutive Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference championship on Monday, September 20th, with a win in the KSAC Mega Match, at Wanango Country Club.

With the win, the Cats have a twelve point edge (72-60), over the current second place team Cranberry, with one Mega Match to go. The maximum points Cranberry could score in the last match, scheduled for Clarion Oaks Golf Course (weather permitting) on Thursday (September 24th), would be nine.

The Bobcats winning team score was 210. The rest of the Top Five included: Moniteau (252), Clarion-Limestone (253), Cranberry (263 and Forest Area (275).

Clarion was led by Kameron Kerle, who shot a 39, to tie Moniteau’s Jacob Felsing for medalist honors. Fellow Bobcat Derek Lauer finished third, one stroke back at 40. Clarion-Limestone’s Nick Aaron was fourth at 41.

Bobcats Avery Kline and Mckayla Kerle each recorded a 43 to finish in a three-way tie for fifth, with Cranberry’s Dane Wenner.

Owen Kriebel shot a 45 for Clarion, tying Venango Catholic’s Colin Liederbach for eighth, with Lucas Mitrosky recording a 48 for the Cats, good for eleventh place.

Clarion Coach Jay Kerle had high praise for his golfers. “I am very proud of the team’s accomplishment of winning the KSAC for the third year in a row.  We have a great group of golfers and that have dedicated a lot of time practicing and golfing this year.  We are looking forward to Districts and still have a few more goals to accomplish.”
