Lexie Coull And Alex Leadbetter Lead Lady Cats To Season Opening Win Over Lady Raiders

The Clarion Area Lady Cats Soccer Team hosted the Brookville Lady Raiders in the 2021 home and season opener for the Cats, on Friday (September 3rd), coming away with a 5-3 victory.

Leading the way for Clarion were Alex Leadbetter and Lexi Coull who scored two goals apiece.

The Raiders opened with an early goal, to lead 1-0. But the Cats tied the game at 1-all, on Alex’s first goal, with 33:32 left in the first half. Brookville would move out to a 2-1 lead, with a goal three minutes later with 30:32 left.

Lexi knotted the score at 2-2, with her first goal with 25:47 left in the half.

With 25:25 left, a Brookville player inadvertently put the ball in their own goal, giving Clarion a 3-2 lead.

Both teams would score once more before the half. Alex scored her second goal with 8:59 to go, pushing the Lady Cats lead to 4-2, but the Raiders would answer with another goal with 8:22 on the clock, cutting Clarion’s lead to 4-3. The score would hold through the half.

Lexi would close out the scoring with a goal, with 18:14 left on the game clock, setting the 5-3 final.

The Lady Cats are scheduled to visit Brockway next Tuesday (September 7th) and host Forest Area next Thursday (September 9th).
