Clarion Downs Punxsutawney In UAVL Soccer Match

On Wednesday evening, the Clarion Area Lady Cats Soccer Team traveled to Punxsutawney, for the first of two matches against the Lady Chucks. 

Clarion took control of the game from the start with sharp passing and strong ball possession. 

With a healthy lineup for the first time in a few weeks the scoring chances soon followed.  Alexis Coull and Alex Leadbetter tallied 2 goals each in the first half, Coull also added an assist.  Julianna Wilson added a goal as well, her first as a Lady Cat. 

The offensive supporting cast of Evelyn Lerch, Joyce Kim, and Anna Gribik helped pave the way for numerous scoring chances through their excellent creative play. Defensively the Lady Cats had their best performance of the season. 

Abi Frederick, Robyn Stahlman, Mercedes Cunningham, and Olivia Hannold efficiently dealt with every attack the Lady Chucks threw at them. The Clarion defense also did an outstanding job of initiating counterattacks with accurate passing to their midfielders.  (Final: Clarion Area 5 – Punxsutawney)

Goalkeepers Chesney Boggess and Madilyn Baker combined for the Lady Cat shutout.  Clarion will travel to Dubois on Monday evening before hosting the Lady Chuck next Wednesday for senior night.
