Baseball: Bobcats Season Ends With District Nine Semifinal Loss To Lions

Crosstown rival Clarion Area Bobcats and Clarion-Limestone Lions met in the District Nine Class-A Baseball semifinals on Thursday (May 27th), at Showers Field in DuBois, with the Lions ending the Bobcats’ season with a 7-2 win.

The Lions advance to the title game against DuBois Central Catholic, also scheduled for Showers Field, on Monday (May 30th).

Neither team scored in the first inning. The Lions scored two in the top of the second. C-L’s lead held up until the bottom of the fifth, with Clarion pushing two runs across the plate to tie the game 2-2.

The Lions score a single run in the sixth and four more in the seventh to set the final.

Chase Kriebel had a double, an RBI and scored a run for the Bobcats. Noah Harrison doubled and drove in a run. Cam Lapinto singled and scored a run. Dawson Smail had a double and Derek Smail singled.

Corbin Coulson led the Lions with a double and a home run, scoring twice and driving in five runs. Jake Smigh singled and doubled, scored a run and had three RBIs. Nick Aaron had a pair of singles and scored three times. Logan Lutz singled, doubled and scored a run. And Jase Ferguson doubled and drove in a run.
