North Clarion freshman Emalie Best concluded her 2023 Wolves’ Track and Field season by competing at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class-AA Track and Field Championships, held on Friday and Saturday, May 27th and 28th at Shippensburg University’s Seth Grove Stadium.

Emalie competed in the 300 hurdles, the event she was crowned District Nine Class-AA Champion on Friday, May 20th. She ran a 50.71 and though she didn’t medal, she gained great experience, that will serve her well, in her next three seasons.

North Clarion Head Coach Doug Jackson had this to say about Emalie’s season, “Emalie had a tremendous first season and was our top point scorer on the year. States was a great experience for her.

He also shared these thoughts on Emalie and her Wolves’ teammates, “I expect Emalie and a number of the young athletes we have returning to our program to earn their way to Shippensburg in the coming years. I know we have several who are participating in track, event-specific camps this summer.

“We will definitely miss those who are moving on, but I think we can look forward to another great season in boys and girls track in 2023 with those we have returning and moving up from the junior high program.”

Congratulations to Emalie, Coach Jackson and the Wolves on a great season!!!!
