Ezra Brooks, his mother Tanya and the entire E-Z Dogs Team (AKA Brooks Family), had a very successful “Official Public Grand Opening” at the Clarion Area Fall Sports Kickoff Bonfire, on Thursday, August 25th.

E-Z Dogs is a special venture that will allow Ezra, who has Down Syndrome/Trisomy 21 to operate his own business, with the long term goal being to own a food truck, which will provide employment with a fair wage to other special needs citizens. The proceeds from the food cart will go toward helping other organizations in the US and elsewhere, who provide services to individuals with Down Syndrome.

Tanya shared this about the Brooks Family’s hard work in making everything run smoothly, “We’ve been blessed with a family that lives so close by and I’m eternally grateful for their patience and support! They have helped to cook, transport supplies and set up when needed. None of this is happening without our family!”

There were a good number of folks who purchased E-Z Dogs’ delicious “Gourmet” hotdogs, prior to and during the festivities.

Among Ezra’s first customers were the Clarion Area Superintendent Dr. Joe Carrico, wife Debbie and son Malachy and Ezra’s teachers at Clarion Area whose “Cool Cats” Coffee Cart (business), which is manned by special needs students, serving coffee and other snacks to the teacher served as a major inspiration for E-Z Dogs.

Tanya shared, “I believe that Julie Johnson initiated Cool Cats, but that all the teachers played a role in making it a success! Cool Cats is here to stay at CAHS and we hope to collaborate with them in the future, once we get into a routine.”

I also had the privilege of enjoying the some of the E-Z Dogs fare and can attest that it’s PRETTY GOOD!!

The fantastic graphics on the E-Z Dogs logo, as seen on the T-Shirts and the outstanding menu board was designed by Olivia Keltz, Prince Brooks’ girlfriend. My unsolicited recommendation: you may want to get with Olivia if you need graphic designs.

Did Ezra have fun? Tanya said, “Ezra enjoyed the evening! Anything that has to do with Clarion Area sports he gets excited about! He talked about it for weeks!

“He worked the cart until about 7:30 until he was dismissed to PR duties because he was completely distracted by all the people! He’s a social butterfly and superfan of CAHS, so he will probably forever include himself in events! I love it!”

Tanya expressed her gratitude. “Thank you to Dr. Carrico and Laura Burford for asking E-Z Dogs to set up for the bonfire. We appreciate your support!

“The evening was a great success! We were able to share some delicious dogs, made with love, and support our local sports teams! So, thank you to everyone that came out!”

The expression of pride on Ezra’s face is priceless!

(Here’s to Much Continued Success For E-Z Dogs!!!!)
