The Garage located in the former Ship-N-Bill building on Brownies Road just off Route 322, on the west end of Shippenville, was the setting for the Louisville Slugger Hitting Science Center (LSHSC) New Years Eve Bash Softball and Baseball Clinic, on Saturday (December 31st).

The softball portion ran from 1:00-3:00PM with baseball instruction following from 3:30-5:30PM.

The clinic was conducted by LSHSC founder and director Chad Miller, a native of Knox, who played baseball at Keystone and then Slippery Rock University and later was an assistant coach at Marshall University and Penn State – Beaver.

The Louisville Slugger Hitting Science Center is located in Louisville, Kentucky and partners with Louisville Slugger providing cutting edge instruction.

Assisting Miller in seminar was his friend and high school teammate Kirk Tharan.

A number of players from around the area were on hand to receive instruction in hitting, baserunning, speed and agility work etc.

The techniques taught are the same as the Louisville Slugger Hitting Science Center provides to players from the major leagues on down. Their goal is to help “players learn more about themselves, train to their strengths, reduce weaknesses and capitalize on opportunities in order to take the the player’s game to the next level by utilizing science and technology…”

Besides this special event, the Garage provides year-round expert training from some of the top instructors around the area and beyond.
