Baseball And Softball Roundup: Bobcats Baseball Team Downs Keystone, Softball Drops Decision To Panthers

The Clarion Area Bobcats baseball and softball teams traveled to Keystone on Tuesday (April 11th) for Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference action. The Bobcats baseball team downed the Panthers 12-3, while the softball team fell 14-1, in five innings.

Baseball: Clarion 12 – Keystone 3

The Bobcats scored two runs in the top of the first, two more in the third and three in the fourth. The Panthers put two across in the bottom of the fourth. Neither team scored in the fifth. The sixth saw Clarion plate four runs and Keystone one run. The Bobcats scored their final run in the seventh.

Bryce Brinkley went 4-for-5, scoring three times and driving in a run. Derek Smail homered and doubled. Wyatt Watterson had a triple, drove in two runs and scored once.

Dawson Smail singled and doubled, had two RBIs and scored twice. Tanner Miller had two hits and scored twice. Matt Alston singled and drove in a run. Devon Lauer and Noah Harrison and Devon Lauer each singled and scored a run.

Dauntae Girvan and Gary Matus each singled and Hayden Weber drove in a run.

Alston was the winning pitcher, going three innings in relief, striking out four, walking one and allowing two runs on three hits. Matus started the game and went four innings, registering five strikeouts and one run on three hits.

The Bobcats travel to Clarion-Limestone today (Wednesday, April 12th). The game is to be broadcast by the YDL Sports Network.

Softball: Keystone 14 – Clarion 1

The Panthers scored seven in the first, four in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth. Alexa Kitchen scored the Bobcats’ run in the top of the second.

Kitchen had two singles. Emily Troese and Haylee Cratsley each contributed hits and Kelsey Best drove Kitchen in for the Bobcats’ run.

Leah Exley had a triple, three singles and four RBIs for the Panthers.

The Bobcats travel to Clarion-Limestone today (Wednesday, April 12th)
