Roundup: Bobcats Baseball Team Downs Lions, Softball Team Falls To C-L

The Clarion Area Bobcats baseball and softball teams traveled to Clarion-Limestone, for Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference matchups on Wednesday (April 12th).

The Bobcats came away with an 11-4 win in the the baseball game, while the Lions won the softball contest 16-3 in five innings.

Baseball: Clarion 11 – Clarion-Limestone 4

The Bobcats opened the game with four runs in the top of the first, with the Lions scoring two in the bottom of the inning. Clarion pushed four more across in the second and one in both the third and fourth. The Lions scored their final two runs in the bottom of the fourth and the Bobcats tacked on a run in the top of the sixth.

For the Bobcats: Tanner Miller doubled and singled and drove in a pair of runs. Dawson Smail had three singles and three RBIs. Derek Smail singled twice, scored a run and drove in three. Devon Lauer and Matt Alston each had a pair of hits, two RBIs and drove in a run.

Noah Harrison singled and scored three times. Bryce Brinkley had a hit and crossed the plate twice. Hayden Weber and Dauntae Girvan both singled and scored.

Miller was the winning pitcher.

The Bobcats will be on the road against Elk County Catholic, on Saturday (April 15th).

Softball: Clarion-Limestone 16 – Clarion 3 (five innings)

Clarion-Limestone scored two in the bottom of the first, four in the second and five each in the third and fourth. Clarion had one run in the second and two more in the fourth.

For the Bobcats: Hadley Campbell homered and singled, drove in a pair of runs and scored twice. Bri Forrest tripled and scored a run. Alexa Kitchen had a double. Kelsey Best singled and drove in a run.

Abby Knapp had two singles and a double for the Lions, while driving in three and scoring four time. Samantha Simpson had a triple, two singles, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Alyssa Wiant doubled twice and drove in five runs.

The Bobcats are scheduled to travel visit A-C Valley on Tuesday (April 18th).
