Roundup: Bobcat Baseball Team Downs Cranberry, Softball Team Falls To Berries

The Clarion Area Bobcat baseball and softball teams visited Cranberry for Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference games, on Tuesday (April 3rd). The baseball team came away with a 16-2, six inning win, while the softball team fell to the Berries 10-0 in six innings.

Baseball: Clarion 16 – Cranberry 2 (six innings)

The game was scoreless after three innings, but the Bobcats scored three runs in the fourth, six runs in the fifth and seven in the sixth. Cranberry scored their two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Derek Smail had a big game for the Cats, with three hits, including a homerun and a double, while scoring twice. Dawson Smail doubled and singled, drove in three runs and scored three.

Matt Alston had three singles and scored three times. Noah Harrison had a pair of singles, four RBIs and scored a run. Dauntae Girvan singled and scored a run.

Wyatt Watterson crossed the plate three times and drove in a run. Devon Lauer drove in three runs and scored once.

Hayden Weber singles, and Brye Brinkley and Tanner Miller scored one run apiece.

Lauer was the winning pitcher, giving up just one hit in four innings, striking out five and walking only one.

The Bobcats will visit North Clarion on Thursday (April 6th).

Softball: Cranberry 10 – Clarion 0 (six innings)

Cranberry scored three in the first, one in the second, five in the fifth and another run in the sixth.

Emily Troese tripled and singled for the Cats.

Alicyn Burford and Kelsey Best each had a hit.

Clarion will travel to Punxsutawney on Thursday (April 6th).
