Ryan Hummell and the Clarion-Limestone Lions Track and Field Team had a big day on Saturday, April 30th, at the 23rd Annual City of Hermitage Invitational held at Hickory High School.

The event was attended by 26 schools and 825 athletes from PIAA Districts 7, 9 and 10.

The Lions left their mark, got lots Personal Bests and big meet experience alongside some of the best the State has to offer!

C-L girls 4×8 relay- Adi Jackson, Clara Coulson, Olivia Radaker, Madison Aaron

Another wet, cold, windy Saturday didn’t seem to slow things down, as the day started with a fast relay with the girls 4×800 of Madison Aaron, Clara Coulson, Olivia Radaker and Adisen Jackson just missed the district time by .84 of a second!

Then the Personal Records started to roll in. Adi Jackson in the mile in loaded field ran a fantastic race 5:56.5 just 1.5 seconds shy of the qualifier and a Pa top 50 performance! Next to PR was Olivia Radaker in the 400 (1:11.6). Adi Jackson closed her day with another PA top 50 performance in open 800 for the freshman.

On the boys side, Colton Kiehl got things rolling on the track with a personal record of 5:05 in the mile in a field of 38 runners. Colton kept his hot streak going with another PR in the 800 (2:22).

The sprinters showed up next, earning PRs on the track in 200 were Brady McKinley (25.63) and Hunter Leckner (27.65) in a field of 43 speed demons.

In the throws, the Lions showed up with some PRs and some hardware! In the disc, Charlie Hepfl threw 89-11, a personal record that narrowly missed a PA top 50 performance. Ryan Hummell was you overall champ with a throw of 134-10, a PR and a PA top 10 mark.

Finally, I’m the premier event, the javelin, Charlie Hepfl threw a PR 112-10, a PA Top 50 mark and Ryan Hummell was once again your champion, throwing 167-1, a PA top 10 mark and USA top 50 mark. Ryan holds the top mark in both District 9 and 10.

In team scoring, the boys scored 20 points on the back of Ryan Hummell, finished 13th of 26 teams, were the top Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference team and thesecond District Nine team behind Brookville. They beat KSAC opponents Karns City, Moniteau and Cranberry!

Well done Lions! Keep climbing!
