Roundup: Bobcats Volleyball Downs DuBois, Cross Country Splits Tri-Meet At Keystone

VOLLEYBALL

Clarion Area downed the homestanding DuBois Beavers 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-17), while the Bobcat JVs won their match 2-0) 25-14, 25-14, on Wednesday (September 6th).

Varsity

Hadley Campbell had a big night, with 9 service points (2 aces), 10 assists and six digs. Addiwyn Campbell had 8 points (3 aces) 15 kills and fourteen digs. Taylor Alston contributed 5 points, 17 assists, 9 digs and a kill. Natalie Durish recorded 6 points, 11 digs and a pair of assists.

Rhiannon Copenhaver scored 7 points (1 ace) and had one dig. Kelsey Best scored 6 points (2 aces). Sophie Babington scored 3 points to go along with 2 kills and a pair of digs.

Marley Kline and Alicyn Burford contributed 6 and five kills respectively, and Anna O’Toole contributed three digs.

Junior Varsity

Rhiannon Copenhaver scored service points (4 aces) and had 3 assists and a pair of digs. Lauren Brinkley had 6 points (3 aces), 2 kills and a dig. Kelsey Best contributed 5 points (1 ace), an assist and two digs.

Aubrey Leonard had 3 points, a kill and three digs. Anna O’Toole recorded 4 points and four digs. Addiwyn Campbell scored 2 points, handed out 3 assists and delivered two digs. Alivia Diehl had an ace and two kills, and Madison Schill had an ace.

The Bobcats are scheduled to travel to Keystone this afternoon (Thursday, September 7th).

CROSS COUNTRY

The Bobcats competed in a Tri-Meet at Keystone, which also included A-C Valley/Union, on Wednesday (September 6th).

Runners from all three teams wore a Purple and Gold “2” on their arms in support of Karns City football player Mason Martin who had a severe medical setback in the Gremlins’ game with Redbank Valley last Friday (September 1st).

The Bobcats split the boys meet, defeating A-C Valley/Union 18-37, while dropping a 26-29 decision to Keystone. Keystone downed. A-C Valley/Union 17-43.

None of the girls teams had enough runners for a team score.

Varsity Boys

For Clarion: Jonas Wilshire (19:25.47) finished second; Josh Turner (20:15.56) was fourth; Ben Lambert (22:09.52) placed sixth; Caleb Turner (22:30.27) was eighth; and Anthony Bartley (25:02.53) finished twelfth.

First place went to Keystone’s Jonathan Hansford (19:12.68).

Varsity Girls

Clarion’s Raven Cunningham (29:15.58) finished in first place. Teammates Cecylia Bowser (33:19.29) and Grace Schill (35:43.78) finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Junior High Boys

For the Bobcats: Noah Frederick (16:42.72) finished third and Michael Troese (17:36.77) was seventh.

Keystone’s Robert Pearce (13:48.20) was the first place runner.

Junior High Girls

Bobcat Alissa Brooks (15:42.52) finished second and teammate Elena Sheftic (17:37.63) finished fifth.

Aleya Linamen (14:47.10) from A-C Valley Union finished in first place.

The Bobcats are set to participate in the Big Red Invitational at West Middlesex on Saturday (September 9th).
