Bobcat Boys Finish Second In Carl A Truance Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament

The Clarion Bobcat boys basketball team fell to the host Punxsutawney Chucks, 49-37, in the Carl A. Truance Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament on Friday (December 29th).

The Bobcats led 18-11 after one period, but with a 17-9 Chucks’ edge in the second, Clarion found themselves down by one, 28-27 at halftime. Punxsutawney led 37-31 going to the last stanza, after posting a 9-4 advantage in the third and followed that with a 12-6 edge in the fourth to set the final.

Devon Lauer led Clarion with 13 points, followed by Kam Merrell with 9 and Dawson Smail with five. Each sank one three pointer.

Gabe Simko scored four points. Bryce Brinkley, Dauntae Girvan and Dawson Smail each scored two points.

Jimmy Neese and Beau Thomas each scored twelve points to lead Punxsutawney.

Lauer and Merrell were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Bobcats are set to travel to East Forest to play the Forest Area Fires on Tuesday (January 2nd).
