Baseball: Bobcats Down Dutch And Chucks

The Clarion Area Bobcats won two road games in the last several days, downing the St. Marys Flying Dutchmen 11-5 on Saturday (April 6th) and the Punxsutawney Chucks 8-2 on Monday (April 8th).

Clarion 11 – St. Marys 5

The Dutch scored three runs in the bottom of the first. With two runs by the Bobcats in the top second and another in the third, the score was knotted at 3-all.

St. Marys scored one in their half of the third and another in the fourth for a 5-3 lead.

Neither team scored in the fifth. But the Bobcats came back for the win, by plating eight runs in the sixth, including four on a grand slam by Hayden Weber. The Dutch scored none in the bottom of the sixth and neither team scored in the seventh.

For the Bobcats:

Weber also had another RBI. Noah Harrison doubled and scored a run. Devon Lauer singled, doubled and scored twice. Derek Smail had two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Bryce Brinkley singled and scored a run. Tanner Miller scored once and drove in a run. Matt Alston scored twice, and Dylan Smail and Ethan Rex each crossed the plate once.

Miller was the winning pitcher.

Lucas Bauer singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored once, and Ben Reynolds singled, doubled and scored a pair of runs for the Dutch.

Clarion 8 – Punxsutawney 2

The Chucks scored their two runs in the bottom of the first inning, for a 2-0 lead which would hold through the fourth. The Bobcats scored 5 in the fifth, 1 in the sixth and two more in the seventh to set the final.

Noah Harrison had a single and a double for the Bobcats. He scored twice and had a pair of RBIs. Bryce Brinkley had a hit, drove in a run and scored once. Dauntae Girvan and Matt Alston each singled and drove in a run.

Dawson Smail had a hit and scored a run. he was also the winning pitcher, going three innings, registering two strikeouts, while giving up just one hit.

Tanner Miller had a hit and an RBI. Devon Lauer, Derek Smail and Dylan Smail each scored once.

Maddox Hetrick had three hits and scored a run for Punxsy.

The Bobcats are scheduled to play Forest Area at East Forest, later today (Tuesday, April 9th).
