Wolves Sweeps Union/A-C Valley In KSAC Track And Field

North Clarion swept visiting Union/A-C Valley on Tuesday (April 9th), in Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Action. The girls won 100-49, while the boys had a one-point 75-74 victory.

GIRLS

Brenna Armstrong won two events, shot put (35′-0″) and discus (100.9), both tosses met district qualifying standards. Brenna also finished third in the javelin. Grace Carroll claimed the high jump and was second in the long jump and triple jump. Her high jump and long jump distance (16′-1/4″) each qualified for districts. Abby Hastings won the 3200 (13:10.8) to qualify for districts also.

A number of other North Clarion athletes took first places. Sophie Babington won the 400 (1:10.16). Eliza Datko took the 1600 (6:14.5) and also finished second in the 800. Marley Kline was victorious in the 100 (13.4). Gia Babington took the 800 (2:37.4) and Bella Troese claimed the pole vault (6′-0″).

Both relays came away with wins: 1600 (4:39.2) which included Datko, Kline, Sophie Babington and Kaitlynn Guth, and the 3200 (11:42.9) consisting of Hastings, Datko, Sophie Babington and Anna O’Toole.

Lauren Brinkley finished second in the high jump and pole vault. Addison Siegel had seconds in the discus and shot put. Guth was second in the 100 hurdles and the 3200. O’Toole had a second in the 3200 and a third in the 1600. Guth finished second in the 100 hurdles.

Natalie Durish was third in both the long and triple jumps. Jayden Sheftic finished third in the 400, Adeline Best was third in the 300 hurdles. and Raven Cunningham finished third in the 3200.

BOYS

Mason Burford won two individual events, the 110 hurdles (15.7) and the 400 (54.9), while also finishing second in the 100. The Wolves also had four others with first place finishes. Aiden Thomas was victorious in the 300 hurdles (46.2) and finished third in the 110 hurdles, Jackson Nicewonger captured the 3200 (11:49), while also placing second in the 1600. Jonas Wilshire won the 1600 (5:05.7) and Brady Quinn won the pole vault (7′-0″).

Wilshire, Dane Sliker, Wyatt Boyden and Mason Gourley teamed to win the 3200 relay (8:59.5).

Josh Turner placed second in the 3200 and third in the 1600. Others with individual second place winners included: Boyden in the 400, Gourley in the 300 hurdles, Sliker in the 800, Isaac Lerch in the 200, Michael Swanson in the high jump and Hayden Hindman in the shot put.

Guth finished third in the 800, Jack Pappas in the 3200, and Ben Lambert in the shot put.
