Bobcat Golfers Finish Eighth In 2024 Grape Picker Invitational, Kameron Kerle Ties For Second Place

The Clarion Area Bobcat golf team participated in the 2024 Grape Picker Invitational, held at Lake View County Club, in North East on Thursday, August 15th, finishing in eighth place. 

Rules Meeting prior to the start

The Bobcats were led by Kameron Kerle who shot a 75, to place in a 5-way tie for second. Others scoring for Clarion included: Lucas Mitrosky with an 82, Wyatt Watterson with a 95 and Parker Miller with a 98. “Last minute” fill-in, Gabe Anderson who filled in, finished at 116, which was not included in the team total.

Coach Jackie Kerle shared, “James Keenen (our #3 guy) became sick overnight and was unable to play. We called Gabe Anderson at 5am and he stepped up and filled the vacant position on our team.”

Medalist for the tournament was Connor Laird from Fairview, who shot a 73. Two strokes back were the five second place winners, Kerle, West Shamokin’s Alex Talmage, Cathedral Prep’s Connor Weirzchowski, Teagan Rucks from Fairview and Layton Hassenplug from North East.

Cathedral Prep claimed the Team Championship with a 316 total.

The rest of the Team standings are as follows: 2) Fairview (319), 3) West Shamokin (338), 4) North East (341), 5) McCowell (346), 6) Fort LeBoeuf (347), 7) Lakeview (349), 8) Clarion (350), 9) Warren (361); 10) Mercyhurst (364); 11) General McLane (411); 12) Oil City (420).

Coach Jackie Kerle had this to say about the course and the team’s playing there, “Lakeview is a beautiful, challenging golf course with fast greens and thick rough. Our team always enjoys playing at this course and loves their practice facility.”
