Kameron Kerle, James Keenen Place at Pinecrest Country Club’s First Ever Rick “Raker” Reitz Junior Open

The first ever Pinecrest Country Club, Rick “Raker” Reitz Junior Open was held at the Pinecrest links, in Brookville on Wednesday, August 7th. The Open is in memory of Reitz, a longtime member who passed away in August, 2023 at age 74.

There were 54 participants in this year’s event, which included participants from seventh grade to twelfth grade, included both Boys’ and Girls’ Divisions. Seventh and eighth graders played the front nine, while ninth to twelfth grade played eighteen holes.

The festivities, totally free for the golfers, thanks to generous donors, included golf, lunch, skill prizes and awards for each division. A number of volunteers were enlisted to also ensure that everything went smoothly.

The Boys’ High School Division winner was Keystone’s Sean Karg, who shot a 68. Finishing second was Clarion Area’s Kameron Kerle with a 69. Alex Talmadge took third with a 73. Clarion Area’s James Keenen came in fourth at 79.

The Girls’ Top 3 included Sami Neal in first place with an 85, Chloe Fritch in second place with an 87 and Claire Kennis, who was third at 104.
