Basketball Roundup: Bobcat Boys And Girls Both Victorious
Both Clarion Area Basketball Teams were victorious on the road, on Tuesday (January, 7th). The boys downed the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals 42-35, in a non-conference matchup, while the girls downed the Forest Area Fires, in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference game at West Forest, 55-28.
Boys – Clarion Area 42 – DuBois Central Catholic 35
The Bobcats held a 9-5 lead after period one and with a 12-7 advantage in the second, they led 21-12, at the half. An 11-7 Cardinals edge in the third, had the Bobcats leading 28-23 going to the final stanza, where a 14-12 Clarion advantage set the final.
Nathan Frederick led the Bobcats with 16 points, followed by Dylan Smail’s twelve points. Mason Burford and Parker Miller each had 7 points.
Frederick, Smail and Miller each had a trey.
Girls – Clarion Area 55 – Forest Area 28
Clarion led 21-3 after one and with a 10-3 advantage in the second they took a 31-9 lead in to halftime. Both teams scored 10 in the third, giving the Bobcats a 41-19 lead heading to fourth, where a 14-9 Clarion advantage set the final.
Sophie Babington led the Bobcats with twenty-four points. Lacey Lauer and Marley Kline scored 12 and 8 points respectively.
Alivia Diehl and Lilly Shirey each had four points. Natalie Durish had 2 points and Neyma Noukouni had one.
Jayden Colvin, Becca Wagner and Alana Wagner each scored six points for the Fires.
The Bobcat Boys are scheduled to host Forest Area tonight (Wednesday, January 8th) and the Girls are scheduled to host Eisenhower for varsity only, on Saturday (January 12th) at 6:30 p.m.
