Wrestling: Wildcats Down Chucks

The visiting Central Clarion Wildcats downed the Punxsutawney Chucks 42-29, in District Nine Wrestling League action on Tuesday (January 7th.

After a Punxy win by fall at 107, the Wildcats Drew Crompton had a forfeit win at 114 to knot the score at 6-6.

Two more pins by the Chucks, at 121 and 127, Punxsutawney held an 18-6 wins.

The Wildcats got six points on a pin by Grayson Aaron at 133, to cut the Punxy’s lead to 18-12.

Logan Powell fell by a one-point 8-7 decision at 139, followed by a forfeit win by Kullen Buzza at 145 and the score was now Punxsutawney 18 – Central Clarion 21.

James Sprague lost by technical fall at 152 and Ben Naser dropped a 7-0 decision at 160. Punxsutawney now led 29-18.

But the Wildcats came back with four straight wins to secure the win.

Jeremiah Queenan won by forfeit at 172, followed by three Central Clarion pins by Mason Gourley at 189, Jacob Henry at 215 and Hayden Hindman at 285, setting the final at 42-29.

The Wildcats will next see action in the Patrick Morales Tournament in Falconer New York on Friday and Saturday (January 10th and 11th).
