Bobcats Fall To Bulldogs In Boys Class-AA District Title Tilt

The Clarion Area Bobcats dropped a 47-35 decision to the Redbank Valley Bulldogs in the District Nine Boys Class-AA championship game, at Tippin Gymnasium on Saturday (March 1st).

The Bulldogs held an 11-8 lead after one period and 20-14 at the half, after outscoring the Bobcats 9-6 in the second. A two point, 8-6 Redbank advantage in the third, had them leading 28-20 heading to the fourth, where a 19-15 Bulldog edge set the final.

Mason Burford led the Bobcats with 11 points, Nate Frederick had 9 points and Wyatt Watterson followed with nine.

Derek Smail scored 8 points and Dylan Smail had two.

Watterson had 2 3-point baskets and Burford and Frederick each had one.

Kieran Fricko led the Bulldogs with sixteen points.

Clarion now enter the PIAA Boys Class-AA playoffs, as the second seed from District Nine will host Muncy, the second seed team from District 4 in the opening round, this Saturday (March 8th). Tipoff is set for 1:00PM.
