Baseball: Bobcats Fall To Dutch

The Clarion Area Bobcats fell to the St. Marys Flying Dutchmen by one run, 5-4, in non-conference baseball at Clarion County Park, on Tuesday (May 12th).

The Bobcats held St. Marys off the scoreboard in the top of the first inning, while scoring one run in each for a 2-0 lead.

The Dutch scored three in the third, to take a 3-2 lead. Clarion didn’t score in the bottom of the inning and neither team scored in the fourth. A 2-1 St. Mary’s scoring edge in the fifth had the Dutch up 5-3, The Bobcats scored the game’s final run in the bottom of the sixth.

Ethan Rex singled and a homered for the Bobcats, while scoring a run and driving in two. Evan Kriebel singled and doubled and scored twice.

Dylan Smail had 3 hits, including a double, 1 run and an RBI. Carter Hindman also singled.

Hindman worked 4 innings on the mound, throwing four strikeouts. Parker Miller threw three innings and had one strikeout.

Tysen Beimel and Mason Nicklas each scored two runs for St. Marys, while Louie Nedzinski scored once.

The loss snapped the Bobcats’ 11 game win streak. Clarion now sits at 13-3 overall and 9-1 in the KSAC.
