Clarion Area Track And Field Teams Fare Well At Redbank Valley Invitational (05/12/18)

The Clarion Area Track and Field Teams had a fine day at the Redbank Valley Invitational, on Thursday, May 10th. Combined they won six events, took six seconds and three thirds.

Brendan Zerfoss led the way with three first place finishes, taking the Boys’ 100 (11.11), the 200 (22.10) and the 400 (49.50). Laken Lewis also had a big meet, with a first in the Girls’ triple jump (33-9.5), second in the pole vault (10-6), third in the high jump (5-0) and fourth in the long jump (15-7.75).

Phylicia Hockman won the Girls’ 800 (2:34.52), while Nick Schill, Don Cunningham, Noah Schill and Austin Hummell teamed up for a victory in the Boys’ 4×800 relay (8:39.93).

Finishing second, individually, in the Boys’ meet were, Tom Hearst in the pole vault (11-6), Hummell in the 800 (2:03.89) and Nathaniel Lerch in the 3200 (10:27.57). Lerch also took fourth in the 1600 (4:46.33). Cunningham, Hummell, Marshall Powers and Zerfoss joined forces for a second in the 4×400 relay (3:29.14) Lexie Lauer finished second in the Girls’ high jump (5-0).

Kyara Girvan captured bronze in the Girls’ 200 (28.19) and Gavin Brinkley finished third in the Boys’ high jump (5-10).

Powers was fourth in the Boys’ 300 hurdles (40.89) and sixth in the 100 (11:58). Grace Matson, Gabriella Fleming, Troese and Hockman combined for a fourth place in the Girls’ 4×800 11:16.28).

Gabby Weaver was fifth in the Girls’ 100 hurdles (17.99).

Nick Schill had a sixth place finish in the Boys’ 3200 (10:55.26) and Girvan, Troese, Gabby Weaver and Hockman took sixth in the Girls’ 4×400 relay (4:41.25). Fran Weber was seventh in the Boys’ 3200 (10:59.03).

Weaver, Lauer, Troese and Hockman finished eighth in the Girls’ 4×100 relay (56.58).
