Wolves Girls’ Track Finishes In Tie For Fifth-Place At Franklin Invitational, Despite Depleted Numbers


The North Clarion Girls’ Track Team competed in the 15th Annual Franklin Invitational on Saturday (April 30th) and came away in a fifth-place tie with Titusville, despite numbers being down.

Not many of the Wolves’ athletes participated due to North Clarion competing in the Science Olympiad at States and the North Clarion prom. The Boys’ Team didn’t participate.

Emalie Best came up big, bringing home Gold in the 100 hurdles and Silver in the 300 hurdles. She came out of prelims seeded second after running a personal record 17.32. She improved on that PR, with her winning time of 16.52 in the finals. She ran a 50.89 in taking second in the 300 hurdles.

Brenna Armstrong threw a personal record 32′-7″ to finish second in the shot put. Rebekah Ketner captured fourth place in the event.

Bella Scott placed fourth in the 1600 running a career best 5:49.59. 

Evelyn Lerch placed seventh in the 100 with a time of 13:44.

The Top 5 in team standings were: 1) Cranberry, 2) Oil City, 3) Franklin, 4) Sharpsville, 5 – tie) Clarion, Titusville.
