Clarion Area Senior Girls Basketball Players And Parents Honored By Boosters In “Senior Night” Celebration

The Clarion Area Girls Basketball Booster Club honored this season’s three seniors, Taylor Alston, Gia Babington and Emily Troese along with their parents in a “Senior Night” Celebration, prior to the Bobcats game with Curwensville, on Tuesday, January 23rd.

The Lobby was decorated with a display featuring each of the girls’ photos.

Tedra “Bear” Craig did a great job as emcee, keeping the ceremony flowing well.

The ceremony began with each the seniors being escorted through the doors at the south end of the gym by two of their teammates, to meet their parents who came from the north side, at the midcourt stripe, as the players’ bios were read.

The young ladies were presented with flowers and gift bags.

Taylor was first senior to enter.

Taylor is captain of both the basketball and volleyball teams, vice president of the Senior Class, president of Student Council and Yearbook editor. She has been on the Principal’s List and Honor Roll in ninth through twelfth grade.

Taylor’s future plans include going to Slippery Rock University and earning a doctorate in Occupational Therapy.

Taylor is the daughter of Denny and Emily Alston.

Gia was the second senior to be recognized.

Gia is a member of the basketball team and the North Clarion track team, Student Council, Youth Council and National Honor Society. She has been on the Principal’s List and Honor Roll throughout high school.

Gia’s future plans also include attending Slippery Rock University, where she is planning to major in Education and Psychology.

Gia is the daughter of Seth and Jill Babington.

Emily was the last senior to be introduced.

In addition to basketball, she is also on the softball team, Vice President of National Honor Society and a member of the Art and History Clubs.

Like her two fellow seniors, Emily plans to attend Slippery Rock University. She plans to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy.

Emily is the daughter of Mike and Ann Troese.

After each girl was escorted to meet their parents, they went to midcourt for photos.

After the game, the seniors were treated to a congratulatory cake social by the Clarion Area Basketball Boosters.

Coach Heeter commented about the trio. “This is a special group of seniors for me.

“This class was in their freshman year whenever I joined the girls program as an assistant coach, so I’ve got to watch them grow as players, leaders, and people over the past four years.

“Although there’s an only a few of them, their presence and leadership will certainly be missed next year.”
